WORDS THAT KEEP PEOPLE READING
Will you make it to the second paragraph?
Only if I'm good at this. We’re all looking for ways to shine. Websites should be a place to do just that. But getting it right isn’t easy – and these days you only have a few seconds to engage readers before they click somewhere else.
So how can I help? I make you shine with good copy. With writing that says what you want to say in a way that works for your audience. Because sloppy writing is bad news for your business: if the writing’s no good, what else don’t you care about?
From websites and blogs to press releases and video scripts, I’ll work with you to suss out the important stuff, and put it into words that keep people reading. Words that stop them from clicking somewhere else.
HOW CAN I HELP?
Whether you’re a small start-up or an established multinational, you need good copy to connect with your customers. Online and offline, the words you use are crucial to creating relationships. From websites to video scripts, I’m a wordsmith for all platforms.
In person, on the phone or online, I will quickly identify your objectives, your uniqueness, your brand identity. Then I connect with your audience in your tone of voice, using words authentic to your brand, and tailored for different channels.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY
“Thank you, Sally, for all your hard work in writing the content for our new website. You have done a fantastic job in capturing the essence of Glen Tanar in your writing and we are sure it will make the website something really special. Well done also for being so efficient and managing all our requests - while keeping to our tight deadlines! You really did make the whole process much easier."
Rachel Gray, Marketing & Communications Executive, Glen Tanar Estate
"Highly professional, Sally produced clear, good quality case studies that captured the positive impacts of a short break on vulnerable families in Scotland. She quickly grasped the brief, was proactive and efficient in conducting the interviews, and quick to turn these into engaging, highly readable case studies."
Lee McRonald, International Partnerships Manager, VisitScotland
“Sally understood technical and commercial aspects in multiple sectors, and quickly gained enough technical knowledge to write credible articles with little assistance. She was happy to interact with different levels across the organisation from the CEO to engineers to the sales team. Sally built strong media relationships in the relevant sectors and always met deadlines. A trusted and reliable partner.”
Philip Buchan, Commercial Director, Cyberhawk Innovations
"Sally listened to the brief and quickly understood what we were trying to achieve. She turned around high quality copy within tight timescales - we wouldn't hesitate to use her services again."
Alistair Aboyne, Managing Director, AJC Homes
"Just wanted to say thanks so much for the copywriting help this year. You've been brilliant to work with and what we've created is better for it."
Mark Kemp, Director, Forty Two Studio
"I’ve used Sally a few times to assist in writing and proofreading my blogs. She’s very helpful, professional and prompt in her replies. I’ve always been very pleased with her work and would highly recommend her."
Francesca Philp, Director, Little Lives First Aid
"This is really great, I’ve been looking forward to receiving your work. I am delighted with everything you have written and suggested."
Carole Short, Owner, Down on the Farm glamping accommodation
Qualified in Geophysics and Science Communication, I have worked in Science Writing, Public Relations and Corporate Communications across multiple sectors. I’ve written video scripts for multinational energy companies, exhibition text for the Edinburgh International Science Festival, and co-ordinated photo shoots in central London with a range of personalities from celebrities to live goats and sheep. I led VisitScotland’s PR effort behind the crane-in of a replica Victorian railway carriage to the old station in Ballater, Royal Deeside, a suggestion made by HRH Prince Charles.
Lately my writing has focused on catchment management planning in the Cairngorms National Park amidst the linked crises of climate change and biodiversity loss, while other recent projects include the re-opening of the triple AA rosette award-winning Douneside House, and the picturesque glamping destination in Rosehearty, Down on the Farm. I’m based in Aberdeenshire, but have worked with clients across Scotland and am happy to travel to work with you in person, or remotely online.
